HOW TO PACK UP MY HOUSE IN JUST 3 DAYS?
When there is a will, there is a way.No matter whether I need to pack up my house in three days, or in even one day. I can pack up my house quickly enough. All I need to do is follow some proven packing tips for moving in a hurry:
Come up with a system for keeping track of what’s inside my boxes.
Scribbling on moving boxes with a permanent marker is the time-honored method of facilitating the packing process. However, I will take a more sophisticated approach. Such as I will number my boxes to match a master packing list . The list will indicate where I have placed the contents of each box in my new home.
If I opt to simply label my boxes, I will write on at least two sides (not the top). This will enable me to recognize them at a glance without being stressed to reposition them in a crowded moving truck.
Keep lightweight items inside the drawers.
I have to empty every armoire, cabinet, chest of drawers, and bedside table in my home. Instead, I will load them inside the heaviest items and load them up as-is. In this way, I’ll only have to worry about relocating the piece itself and not its contents.
- Wrap large pieces of furniture with plastic wrap to keep drawers shut and avoid a piece’s weight from shuffling unexpectedly.
- The only time moving a full piece of furniture is not feasible when it’s so overstuffed. It will then poses a safety risk to me or my moving crew.
Keep my clothing folded or on hangers to make them easy to put away afterwards.
Wardrobe boxes are designed specifically for this purpose. I will just clear out my closet, hang my garments on the included rail, and seal the box uptight. If I don’t have a wardrobe box, my next best option is to remove them from my drawers. Then I will carefully transfer them to heavy-duty garbage bags.
- I can find wardrobe boxes for around $10-20 apiece at most home improvement centers and home goods stores. The price is steep for a single storage solution, but it’s one that has the potential to make my life a lot easier.
- Once I get around to unpack my clothes, all I’ll have to do is take them out of their box and put them right back where they were before.
Wrap my dining ware individually with packing paper or foam.
All it takes is one good bump to send a shattering shockwave through a box of loose dishes. To avoid calamity, I will bundle every piece of crockery separately, then nestle them together snugly inside my moving container. It may take a little time, but not as long as buying a whole new set of dishes.
- Remember to put a layer of cushions at the bottom of the box, as well.
- I will pick up a box of packing paper from any home improvement center or home goods store for just a few dollars, while foam will cost me around $10 a roll.
Stash small odds and ends in suitcases, travel bags, and backpacks.
These accessories are made for storing and carrying goods. They’re especially useful for toting around clothes, books, electronics, and personal belongings that I don’t want to be misplaced in the shuffle.
- Filling up things like purses, briefcases, reusable shopping bags can also help me maximize my storage potential while minimizing unnecessary materials.
- Another advantage of putting my storage accessories to their intended use is that I’ll be able to get away with using far fewer boxes.
