Ready to set up my home real estate office, but unsure of where to start? This post will detail my setup and give tips on how to stay organized so I can create content, generate leads, and sell more homes.
If I want to take the plunge and start my home real estate office instead of just treating real estate as a career while working for someone else, there is a lot to consider. I will be surely an intelligent investor, it’s possible that I can avoid working in an office altogether. Instead, make the most of my home by setting up a workspace here.
Whether I am working from the dining room table or dedicated office space, getting my workspace organized during this time is key, both for my productivity and my sanity.
My Home Workspace – Everything Which I Have To Consider:
Here’s a candid look at how I will start my home real estate office:
1) Dedicate an area in my home as office space. It’s a very wise idea to establish a home real estate office space. I will not intend my business calls, conferences, and meetings to be interrupted by noisy kids and neighbors. So I should avoid working from a corner of my living room if I can.
2) Buy a filing cabinet. Paperwork is still a mandatory task. Probably I am not going to deal exclusively with digital files. I have to make sure I have someplace to keep all of the documents which I don’t want to lose. Because otherwise, they’re going to be gone.
3) Keep regular work hours. There are obvious exceptions, but for the most part, I will try to keep regular work hours. Why? Because too many people miss that first crucial, vital word in “working from home.” (That would be the working part.)
Neighbors, friends, and family think my time at home is free time in which I would be easily available to them. This means they’re going to come knocking. I will not answer the house door or the house phone from (x) to (x) unless it’s an emergency. Sooner or later, people will understand my preferences.
4) Decorate my workspace in a way that suits me. I will spend a great deal of time in my home real estate office, as well as possibly meeting clients there. So, it’s a great idea to make my home real estate office space streamlined and professional, as well as adding my personal touches to it.
My preference is for warm colors and wood. However, the most important thing is that my home real estate office should look professional and clean for clients and customers. They already may have a negative impression of mine if I am working from home, thus first impressions matter. If I will too busy to do any cleaning, then I will make sure to hire commercial cleaning services or a maid. It is definitely worth the expense!
5) Make sure to attach an Ethernet cable to my computer. When I am on the move, the best idea is to work on a laptop. When I have to pick the kids from school, however, I don’t want to compete for bandwidth. It’s a frustrating experience to find I am halfway through responding to an inquiry, only to lose my information and have to start over.
