What Real Estate Lessons You Don’t Learn in School?

You will learn a lot in real estate school. For example, how to close a transaction, best industry practices, and how to value a property, among other things. But few times the most important real estate lessons are not learned from school. Let’s take a look at the real estate lessons you will not learn in your real estate school.

REAL ESTATE LESSONS WHICH YOU will LEARN FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE

1.Real estate is not a get rich quick scheme

You have to forget that you will make a lot of money fast. In fact, you will probably forget to make money fast. Surely there can be exceptions but you have to accept that you will not earn a heavy amount for some time period.

Many real estate brokers suggest new license holders do enough saving for at least 12 months or should have another source of income when they first start out.

Chances are fairly good that you won’t be able to make 6 figures in your first year. In Illinois, the average realtor makes less than $50,000. in a year. The chances are fairly good that you won’t be able to make even that much in your first year. Be ready for that.

2. Getting your real estate license didn’t prepare you to run a successful business

Your real estate school will just prepare you to clear your real estate exam. Of course, you will acquire loads of knowledge. Unfortunately, much of the bookish knowledge you will never use in your real estate career. You will surely not learn in your real estate class how to run a successful real estate business. You are advised to not take your student hat off as you will wear it for a long time.

If you think a career in real estate is for you, now really is the time to start with our managing broker classes.

3.Part-time agents make part-time incomes

An old proverb says, ‘You get out what you put in is very true in real estate. If you wish for a full-time income then you have to put in a full-time effort. Sure, there are veteran real estate agents who make a good living and work part-time but they are probably enjoying the dividends of immense hard work they have done in their early years.

You will get disappointed by your friends and maybe even close relatives. Just because you got your real estate license holder, doesn’t make you a knowledgeable agent. Just think about the “Next!”
