Many people try to do successful real estate investment businesses. Some make it long-term. Some see real success in their professional work.

So what’s the difference between those who quit, and those who win?

That’s what I’m exploring in this article, guided by the assistance of some established real estate agents. I asked a few agents running their own agencies what are a few highly successful real estate people habits. And here’s what they said…

Persevere, be adaptable, and keep learning.

There are a lot of reasons why I might quit in real estate. One of them is that I’m not habitual of staying persevere throughout the challenges it brings.

This makes sense to me, because everyone experiences failure, in every business. So if I’m not willing to persevere, find solutions to issues, and keep going, I’m doomed from the start.

In fact, nobody throughout the world can walk into success without experiencing failure first. And that could mean anything from a temporary setback to a deal falling through or striving hard to find leads.

So the question is if  I’m going to experience a setback or face failure in my business, will I persevere through the difficulty, work at it, and find creative solutions? Am I willing to try the latest approaches, or learn new techniques to solve my issues? It’s time to ask yourself!

Be consistent.

In addition to persevering, it’s equally important to be consistent.

David, who runs Philly Home Investor cites consistency as one of the highest factors to experience success in real estate. “Most people lack [consistency],” he tells, “they resist doing the small things day in and day out. Being successful means doing things that most people do not opt to do. I would also add in integrity and doing the right thing no matter what the consequences are. Keep your word.” And Derik, who owns Metro Cash Offer, echoed the same sentiment that “staying consistent and focused”, are the most necessary things for real estate agents to be successful.

Be Transparent.

In other words, I should have my stuff in order, and then be transparent about it.

This advice comes from Phil, who runs Metro Home Buyers. “The most mandatory thing of being a successful REI is to have a brief plan and be transparent. People are able to tell those who are organized and honest from those who aren’t.”

In other words, after I get my systems and processes in order, and I have chalked down a plan, I must be honest, and transparent with landlords. If I’ve got something to hide, they’ll probably see that in me.

Branding is about building trust, and I’m surely going to have a difficult time doing that if the landlord feels that I’m hiding things, won’t be transparent with my pricing or offers, or dodge simple questions.

So in addition to persevering through hardship and failure; I will continue to learn and grow, and be consistent in the essentials. I’ve got to be transparent, honest, and obsessed with solving the pains of landlords I’m serving. If I don’t, I probably won’t be successful and won’t be acquiring highly successful real estate people habits.
